Vinterjazz: Nene Heroine (PL)

The evening presents a double concert featuring two strong voices on the contemporary European jazz scene. With Nene Heroine, the Polish jazz ensemble O.N.E. unfolds its distinctive musical universe in the intimate setting of HUSET as part of Vinterjazz.

Nene Heroine

Nene Heroine is a Polish music band from Gdańsk that stands out with its unique sound, combining jazz, psychedelic rock, dub, and post-rock. Their music is a blend of analog sounds, improvisation, and communicative, emotional melodies, creating a distinctive listening atmosphere.

The band debuted with the album “Total Panorama” (Alpaka Records) in 2019. The album consists of seven diverse compositions that take the listener on a musical journey full of surprising turns and varied sounds.

The second album “MOVA” (Alpaka Records) came out in 2022. It is an extension of the existing musical exploration of the "trip", embedded in contemporary sounds, in which the artists take their listeners

The band is known for their energetic live performances, attracting a wide audience. Their focus is always on the "here and now," which makes their music never fail to surprise, which in turn makes each of their concerts a one-of-a-kind experience. Nene Heroine is a band that constantly seeks new inspirations and strives for musical excellence, gaining increasing recognition both in Poland and abroad.

Nene Heroine's fourth album “4” (2025) is a symbolic journey to primal Slavic energy expressed through sound, rhythm, and gesture. More than just a record, it's a manifesto celebrating the unity of the four elements-water, fire, air, and earth- represented by four geometric shapes: circle, triangle, diamond, and square, forming the album's unique visual concept.

Line up:

  • Peter Stanley Chester - sax
  • Tony Sadeky - bass

O.N.E.

O.N.E. is an acclaimed quartet on the international jazz scene and releases its music on the Danish label April Records. The band works without a traditional front figure, building its sound on collective improvisation, close interaction, and a clearly defined democratic approach. The music moves between melodic, modal jazz and more open, raw improvisations, with energy and presence always at the core.

The quartet consists of pianist Kateryna Ziabliuk, saxophonist Monia Muc, bassist Kamila Drabek, and drummer Patrycja Wybrańczyk. All four contribute actively to the compositions, and the concert reflects a strong shared direction in which individual voices are given space without overshadowing the collective whole. Audiences can expect a vibrant and dynamic performance, where the music is shaped in the moment through attentiveness, trust, and deep listening.

O.N.E. has performed at prominent jazz venues and festivals across Europe and stands out as a band that challenges the boundaries of the genre while opening space for new sonic and artistic perspectives. This double concert offers the opportunity to experience two distinct artistic expressions in one evening—appealing to listeners curious about contemporary jazz with edge, depth, and a strong sense of collective purpose.
